How to Survive Songkran in Thailand

Back in November, I was doing some research for work and came across an article on the world’s best cultural festivals.  It was there that I learned about Songkran in Thailand and I knew I had to see this fabulous and exciting event in action.  The next day I was on the phone with American booking a ticket to Thailand.  In case you aren’t familiar, Songkran is Thailand’s new year celebration and for three days, the entire country partakes in a giant water fight that lasts morning until evening.  And in no city is it more boisterous and wild than in Chiang Mai. Reflections on My First Time in Southeast Asia

All in all, I have to say that my first trip to Asia was absolutely incredible.  I completely fell in love with Thailand.  There is something for everyone here — culture, architecture, beaches, adventure and activities galore.  I know this won’t be my last trip to this incredible country — I already look forward to the day when I get to go back.  The trip has also instilled in me a large desire to go back and explore the rest of this region of the world.  In fact, I’m already trying to figure out how to go back and visit Vietnam at the holidays.
